How to Unclog Your Drain

Pour

Slowly pour 1/5 of the bottle (2 cups) down the drain.

Wait

Allow it to work for 15 minutes. For standing water, wait until the drain is clear.

Rinse

Flush with hot tap water and you're done! Repeat regularly (at least monthly) to keep your drains clear.

For garbage disposals, follow the same directions and flush with the disposal running. Avoid all splashing.

Precautions

Keep out of reach of children. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid splashing. Injures eyes, skin and mucous membranes on contact. Do not use with ammonia, toilet bowl cleaners or non–Liquid-Plumr® clog removers, as splashing or the release of hazardous gases may occur. Clean up any spillage immediately.

  • What should be done if my problem gets worse after using this product?

    We recommend trying Liquid-Plumr® Urgent Clear® for particularly stubborn clogs.

  • How long should I wait before flushing the drain with water?

    Wait at least 15 minutes after pouring this product down the drain before flushing with water. If you have an especially slow drain, you can safely let the product sit overnight.

  • Will this product improve a slow drain?

    Yes, this product is formulated to work effectively on slow drains. For particularly stubborn clogs, we recommend using Liquid-Plumr® Urgent Clear®.

  • How much of this product should I use per occasion?

    For best results, we recommend using 1/2 of our 32-ounce bottle or 1/5 of our 80-ounce bottle for every clog problem.

  • Can I use this product in a drain that contains standing water?

    Yes. This product is designed to pour through standing water. However, it is formulated to work most effectively on slow flowing drains. Therefore, for particularly stubborn clogs that cause standing water in drains, we recommend using Liquid-Plumr® Urgent Clear®. For particularly stubborn clogs, use Liquid-Plumr® Full Clog Destroyer™.

  • Is it safe to mix Liquid-Plumr® products with any other product?

    No. Do not use Liquid-Plumr® products with ammonia, toilet bowl cleaners or other non–Liquid-Plumr® clog removers, as splashing or the release of hazardous gases may occur. We do not recommend using Liquid-Plumr® products with non–Liquid-Plumr® products. It is safe to use any Liquid-Plumr® product in the same drain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It unclogged my pipe! This thing is powerful. It's supposed to be maintenance but it actually unclogged my stuck bathroom sink. I recommend it highly. Read on for details (if you have reached this page in despair it might be worth it). The bathroom sink has been slow to drain, but yesterday it finally gave in and blocked completely and kept the water. Overnight, the little pond of water went down, so I guess it was stuck at 99% not 100. The Maintenance formula was the only one in the store, I didn't even know that there are more versions and that I should have been looking for either "completely clogged" (the current situation) or "slow drain" (the initial symptom). The main reason I bought it actually is because it says it works on ALL kinds of pipes (and I have no idea what my pipes are). I followed the instructions, and after 15 min I rinsed with water and indeed it did not keep. It was so relieving that I just wastefully kept running the water for maybe a minute to make sure this is true and rejoice at the fact that I just saved like $200 for a plumber and much hassle. There is a lingering chemo-sewer smell coming out right now but I suppose this is in result of the long lack of maintenance and god knows what stuff that is being dissolved in there now. So bottom line: even though this is supposed to be only for maintenance, it actually worked its way through my slow/clogged pipe. I couldn't recommend this product more. It does even more than it says. The only downside is that it is surely not eco-friendly. But I made this sacrifice because I think there doesn't even exist an eco friendly product powerful enough to disintegrate the nastiness in a pipe. Even if I had called a plumber, probably they would use some similarly nasty chemical. Finally, a note on the instructions: The instructions on my bottle say: pour 1/2 of the package (2 cups). The instructions on the website say pour 1/5 of the package (2 cups). Maybe a different sized package? So just be careful how much you pour.
